Stefan Litwin is a pianist, composer, and teacher. In his work, practice and reflection, action and contemplation come together. He questions music about its meaning and its contexts.
\nLitwin is the son of Jewish parents who, through luck and courage, escaped Hitler\u2019s henchmen. His complex transatlantic family history and his reflections on the roots of fascism, intolerance, and violence have shaped his political awareness and influenced both his repertoire and the themes of his compositions.
\nHe plays, composes, and writes about \u201ccommitted music,\u201d thereby opposing views that seek to declare \u201cthe political harmlessness of all artistic production.\u201d<\/p>\n
